About

The Sedentary Time and Aging Research (STAR) is a 5-year program grant funded by the National Institutes of Aging. Led by researchers at UC San Diego and colleagues across the world, STAR aims to provide more rigorous and comprehensive evidence on how to interrupt sitting time and the consequences for healthy aging.

Older adults struggle to do physical activity and spend up to 11 hours a day sitting. Older women, in particular, are at an increased risk of chronic disease and disability, and use a high proportion of healthcare resources.

The STAR Program aims to better understand how to interrupt sitting time and the impact of interrupting sitting time for healthy aging in postmenopausal women.
